World Animal Protection (formerly The World Society for the Protection of Animals) is an international animal welfare non-government organisation that has been in operation for over 30 years and has country locations in Australia, New Zealand, Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America and North America. The organisation is active in more than 50 countries with more than one million supporters globally.
To achieve its vision of a world where animals live free from suffering, World Animal Protection has four main campaigns to protect the one billion animals that live in communities, the 70 billion animals farmed each year, to protect and rescue animals in disaster zones and to protect wild animals keeping them in the wild. On a global scale, World Animal Protection also works towards putting animal protection at the heart of global thinking by using their theory of change to lobby and advocate; educate and mobilse and catalyse sustainable solutions to achieve impact for animals at scale.
The Role
Reporting to the Communications Lead, you will help deliver integrated communications activity to build awareness through public relations and social media, also contributing to online and print publications. The role will engage the public with campaigns and fundraising initiatives, driving creative external communication that delivers key messaging, branding and values. To achieve this you will:
- Support the delivery of communications plans in Australia and New Zealand
- Generate content including digital and offline copywriting
- Support the generation of media coverage
- Manage the delivery of social media plans
Skills Required
You have experience in a similar communications role, with exposure to external communications ideally in a NFP. You have a solid experience with well crafted, accurate copywriting skills across a range of channels. You have the skills to coordinate multiple projects at one time and an ability to quickly develop a meaningful dialogue with supporters and external stakeholders through creative communication campaigns. You will have experience:
- Writing powerful copy and creating engaging content to a very high standard for digital and offline
- Developing media relationships and ideally an established network of mainstream media contacts
- Experience managing multiple social media channels
- An ability to respond efficiently to requests within tight deadlines
