About the organisation
About the role
Samaritans, the welfare and social justice arm of the Anglican Church in the Diocese of Newcastle, assists people to make positive changes in their lives. Over 100 services are provided to those in need throughout the Central Coast, Hunter Valley, and Mid-North Coast regions of NSW as well as in Mudgee in the Central West. All of Samaritans’ work is underpinned by values of Compassion, Integrity, and Justice. Samaritans are seeking values-based change leaders who are strategic, collaborative and driven by a passion for social justice.
The Deputy Chief Executive Strategy and Innovation is responsible for re-shaping Samaritans as a ‘learning organization’, one that seeks to be responsive to the changing needs of the community through strategically aligning and integrating services and programs through collaboration and innovation. Specifically, the Deputy Chief Executive will be accountable for the following functional areas:
• Social Justice and Mission
• Research, Policy and Business Intelligence
• Business Innovation and Growth
• Business Strategy and Governance
• Priority Project Office
• Improvement and Performance
These roles are rare and quite often highly contested. To be considered you will bring a successful track record in driving transformational programs, particularly in a fast-changing policy and funding environment. You will be attracted to and be comfortable working with ambiguity and complexity, and more importantly be able to translate this into practical solutions. As a leader you will inspire, challenge and support others to reach high performance standards and drive a culture that promotes ideas and organisational excellence. You will be collaborative in your approach, a person who has an appetite and openness for encouraging learning and innovation and for delivering. Naturally you will possess tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline.
This position reports to the Chief Executive Officer. As a faith-based organization candidates will require a deep understanding and a shared commitment to articulating the Samaritans’ Mission as it responds to social injustice.
