The Advancement Unit builds philanthropic support for the university’s strategic priorities through sustained and mutually beneficial relationships with individuals, trusts and foundations. The unit is also responsible for developing and delivering a range of engagement opportunities for its growing alumni network of over 200,000 and providing advice and support to faculties and other business units.

UTS Advancement is currently recruiting a part-time Trusts and Foundations Manager (0.6). The Trust and Foundations Manager is responsible for establishing and engaging new, and nurturing and further developing existing philanthropic trust and foundation relationships at UTS, via direct contact and communications and via a variety of programs that support the philanthropic outcomes of the Advancement Unit.

Reporting to the Deputy Director, Philanthropy, the Trust and Foundations manager will play a significant, strategic role, and will incorporate initiative, superior communication skills and strong administrative abilities.

Main duties/responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a strategy to optimise and increase long term revenue generation and retain support through an international trust and foundation fundraising program.
  • Work with Advancement Managers, Researchers, the Research Innovation Office (RIO), the scholarships office, faculties and others to secure gifts in support of research and student outcomes.
  • Identify prospective Trusts and Foundations, establish and nurture relationships, prepare standard and bespoke submissions as per the requirements of the relevant trust and foundations
  • Meet and / or exceed financial targets each year, mutually agreed with the Deputy Director, Philanthropy
  • Develop and implement both acquisition strategies and engagement plans for new and existing relationships
  • Develop and steward trust and foundation relationships both internally and externally  

Skills and experience required:

  • Experience, preferably in the higher education sector (or a comparable organization), in development, stewardship, advancement services or other fundraising related field, with demonstrated success;
  • Demonstrated experience in strategic planning and implementation of plans, working effectively under pressurE
  • Superior professional writing skills, with the ability to understand complex research programs and “translate” them into a compelling proposal
  • Demonstrated ability to build positive and collaborative relationships with colleagues and other stakeholders at various levels, from diverse cultural backgrounds and at every level of the organisation;
  • Strong experience in establishing, nurturing, and stewarding donor / supporter relationships, at the local / national / international level;
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to initiate projects, work independently and flexibly, build consensus among team members, manage competing priorities and meet project deadlines;

Remuneration & Benefits

Base Salary Range: $94,978 to $108,170 pa (HEW 8) This will be pro-rata‘d

This role attracts 17% superannuation in addition to the base salary. Employee benefits include flexible work practices, child care centres, generous parental leave and salary packaging opportunities.

This appointment will be on a continuing part-time basis (21 hours per week). These hours can be flexible.
