About the role
Guide Dogs Victoria will be bringing the much anticipated Dialogue in the Dark™ exhibition to Melbourne in 2017. Dialogue in the Dark™ is an interactive sensory exhibition that facilitates visitors experiencing daily living without sight. The exhibition will simulate iconic locations and experiences of Melbourne and is undertaken in complete darkness. Visitors are guided through the exhibition by a Guide who has low vision or who is blind. Through this encounter, visitors find a new appreciation for the unique skills of people with a disability, and reflect on their own personal value systems, attitudes and behaviours.
Guide Dogs Victoria currently has a vacancy for an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Operations Manager Dialogue Services, on a full time permanent basis, to oversee the smooth operation of the exhibition.
The responsibilities include:
- Oversee the day to day operations of the Dialogue in the Dark™ Melbourne exhibition.
- Develop the annual operational budget and track performance against targets.
- Monitor financial performance, and implement strategies to maximise revenue.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.
- Oversee and implement the people resource plan for the exhibition, and provide people leadership for the Dialogue in the Dark™ Melbourne team.
- Monitor safety of the exhibition, including overseeing facilities and contractor management.
- Provide support the roll out of the exhibition across Guide Dogs Australia.
Requirements for this role:
- Relevant tertiary qualification in business management or equivalent professional experience.
- Proven track record in successful event delivery and/or venue management.
- Proven experience and ability in effectively leading and developing teams.
- Strong financial and analytical ability with a solid understanding of monthly reports, budgets and financial forecasting.
- Strong building relationship building skills.
- Considerable knowledge and application of OHS legislation in the hospitality / entertainment industry.
- A commitment to live the Values and Behaviours of Guide Dogs Victoria.
- A strong alignment with the vision of Guide Dogs Victoria in delivering independence to people with low vision or blindness.
