About the role

SVHA is looking for a Policy & Social Research Officer to join our Public Affairs team in Sydney or Melbourne. Reporting to the Group General Manager, Public Affairs, the purpose of this role is to The provide quality policy and social research work which supports SVHA to achieve its Mission of delivering social justice through health.

The successful candidate will be able to:
•Assist in producing high quality, relevant and timely policy and advocacy documents including: position statements; submissions to government policy processes and correspondence.
•Gather views and input from across the organisation (clinical and non-clinical staff) in the development of policy and advocacy positions including conducting meetings; facilitating group discussions and sourcing written input.
•Desktop research on health and aged care policy issues, including analysis of: research reports; government publications; statistical data; administrative datasets.
•Monitor policy, advocacy and research developments affecting St Vincent’s operations and target populations and communicate internally.

This is a 12 month fixed term position with flexible working hours.

Below would be essential:
•Experience in a public policy, advocacy and/or social research role.
•Demonstrated capacity to plan and deliver policy and social research products.
•Demonstrated knowledge of health, aged care and social policy.
