bestchance is seeking to appoint Non-Executive Directors providing an extraordinary opportunity for an individual who is passionate about our mission to create and deliver an extended family environment; services that are practical, reliable and responsive to the life issues by families and their children, with an emphasis on early childhood. Board Members will have achieved leadership stature in relevant services, government, philanthropy, or the not-for-profit sector, utilising their skills and professional networks to advance the work of bestchance.
This is a voluntary position for which you would be appointed for an initial three year term.
bestchance Child Family Care is an independent, not-for-profit, community organisation located in Glen Waverley with 600 employees, 110 volunteers and annual turnover of $32M.
bestchance has an innovative and holistic approach to assisting children and families, integrating specialist family oriented educational and welfare community services, and is committed to providing child safe environments. We value the quality and responsiveness of our services especially through this period of significant and sustained growth.
The range of programs delivered include Family Day Care, Kindergarten, Child Care, Early Childhood Intervention, Parent and Child Support, Training, Community Support and Cheshire, an independent, primary school for children with social, emotional and learning difficulties. We recognise that the early years of a child’s life are the most formative and influential and we strive to adhere to the principles of ‘best practice’. This commitment ensures that families are, at all times, respected as the experts on their children and supported in an environment that is strength based and family centred.
You will have:
•knowledge of non-executive Director’s responsibilities including legal, ethical, fiduciary and financial responsibilities and an ability to challenge and work in a respectful and collegial manner
•understanding that any not-for-profit must use its resources well to further their mission, having sound business acumen and an ability to assimilate and synthesise complex information
•extensive professional experience with significant executive leadership accomplishments in one of early years, training and community services sectors or
•extensive professional experience in marketing of services or extensive leadership experience in one of financial, human resources, quality or risk management
