Youth Projects is a leading independent not-for-profit organisation providing integrated health, outreach, employment, education and training services to young vulnerable people and adults in the central and Northern regions of Melbourne.


Youth projects supports people experiencing unemployment, homelessness and/or alcohol and drug issues. They are widely recognised for the unique support they offer which promotes inclusion, builds resilience and creates opportunities out of disadvantage towards a secure future.

Due to their success Youth Projects now employs a team of 100 staff. Its flagship programs include The Living Room Primary Health Service and its youth employment and training services in Melbourne’s north.

About the role

  • Support young people experiencing disadvantage in Melbourne
  • Provide inspirational leadership to a passionate team of 100 staff and engaged board
  • Play a key role in connecting stakeholders with Youth Project’s brand and mission

 

The Role

Reporting to the board your role as CEO will be to shape the future of Youth Projects preparing strategic challenges in a quickly changing world. You will focus the organisation, identify opportunities for growth, and drive achievement of its mission and purpose.

The key areas of responsibility will be:

  • Providing vision, inspiration and leadership to a passionate team
  • Developing and delivering a highly accountable strategic plan
  • Representing organisational needs and priorities to key stakeholders
  • Collaborating with peer agencies and demonstrating sector leadership
  • Diversifying income with a focus on opportunities to lift fee for service income
  • Ensuring strong financial performance and high quality governance

 

Skills Required

You are a visionary senior executive or CEO with the passion to lead this celebrated organisation to the next stage of development. You have a relevant tertiary qualification and a track record in leading teams to deliver highly targeted programs in a likeminded organisation ideally in; primary health, youth services, homelessness and/or employment.

You will require the following skills:

  • Team leadership to drive organisational capability and change
  • Vision, with the ability to translate it into a strategy that’s deliverable and accountable
  • Politically savvy, with awareness of policy change/reforms in the sector
  • Credibility, with the confidence to engage and deepen stakeholder relationships
  • Strong understanding of government funders, funding and for profit funding models.
