About the role
At Save the Children Australia we thrive on change and development. If something doesn’t work, we fix it. In this new role, you will be a thought leader and a technician who will drive Save the Children Australia to develop a framework that will continuously monitor and measure the impact of all our programs, humanitarian assistance, policy and advocacy. Our Theory of Change will underpin your work as you lead the organisation to become a national and international leader in evidence informed programming and interventions.
Where you come in
In this new full-time permanent position based in Carlton, you will build and lead a team to measure the impact of our work with children, young people and their families across International and Australian programs. As a member of the Senior Management Team you will work across the organisation to influence work programs, communicate your findings, and facilitate and influence conversations with a broad scope of internal and external stakeholders.
Reporting to the Director of Australian Programs, you will make an impact by:
- Creating, implementing and leading a research and evaluation strategy
- Designing and managing multiple evaluation contracts simultaneously
- Overseeing the monitoring and evaluation agenda and using this to influence global perspectives
- Forming and maintaining credible relationships with Universities and key stakeholders within the national and international research sector
- Identifying emerging evidence and trends relating to children, young people and families experiencing vulnerability

…You are both a thought leader and a technician. Solutions focussed you hold accountability, adaptability, responsiveness and innovation as key character traits. A track record leading large and complex programs or in monitoring and evaluation will see you demonstrate experience in measuring the impact of social interventions. Strong leadership capability will see you build, direct and support a geographically dispersed team and influence others at Board, Executive and Senior management levels.
This role requires:
- Relevant post-graduate qualifications and / or equivalent experience
- Sound understanding and experience of community development
- Behavioural flexibility to translate strategic, transactional and operational information
- Notable capability to build relevant organisational capacity
- Honed research and analysis skills with a proven ability to work across various disciplines and methodologies
- Highly developed stakeholder management, influencing and negotiating skills.
