About the Opportunity

ACMHN has an exciting opportunity for a part-time Membership Officer to join their passionate and dedicated team in Canberra, ACT.

Reporting directly to the CEO, you will be responsible for managing and providing support for the membership function of the College, and working alongside the Finance & Corporate Service Manager and other key staff.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to:

• Developing and implementing strategies and processes for recruiting and retaining members

• Ensuring membership services are efficiently carried out, including the timely processing and maintenance of membership applications and details

• Attending to all membership communications and enquiries in a professional, responsive, friendly and helpful manner

• Resolving membership complaints in an appropriate and timely manner and within ACMHN’s policy and legislative requirements

• Preparing, editing and responding to varied correspondence, communications, reports and other documents

• Undertaking a broad range of general financial and administrative duties.

Selection Criteria

The successful candidate will ideally have demonstrated experience in providing membership services and have strong administrative and office-based skills.

You’ll have an outstanding phone manner, and be calm and empathetic when managing difficult enquiries. These communication skills will extend to your interactions with members and other key stakeholders, and you’ll be able to work productively with a broad range of people from varied personal and professional backgrounds. A high level of tact and professionalism is essential. You will be confident in a various range of administrative duties including invoicing and managing member’s financial transactions.

As you’ll be managing correspondence, reports and numerous other forms of communication, you’ll need strong writing and editing skills, as well as a high level of organisation and attention to detail. Equally, you’ll be able to prioritise your workload to manage your time effectively and achieve outcomes within agreed timeframes.

ACMHN is looking for a team player, but you’ll also need the ability to work independently and use your own initiative to really make this role your own.

Additionally, you’ll have strong computer literacy and extensive experience with Microsoft Office products and other databases (eg. File-Maker Pro).

The ability to be flexible in work hours and undertake some interstate travel is required.
