Hagar Australia works as part of the Hagar International network to transform the lives of women and children who have been trafficked, enslaved or abused.  They are focused on raising funds for recovery programs in Cambodia, Vietnam and Afghanistan and to advocate to prevent human rights abuse. Their work is supported by a diverse range of generous donors, ranging from individual monthly donors to large corporations.

 

About the role

They are seeking a highly capable accountant yearning for a meaningful job that will make a real difference in the lives of some of the world’s most vulnerable people. This is an opportunity for a flexible, part-time role in a vibrant, small office of passionate, hard-working professionals all working towards a common cause.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Preparation of Annual Financial Reports & Budget Management of external audit
  • Analysis of financial performance,projections and trends
  • Monthly financial reporting to Hagar’s Australian Board and Hagar International
  • Reporting and lodgement to the ATO, Aust Charities and NFP Commission
  • Managing fund allocations to overseas program offices
  • Cash and Asset management
  • Donor receipting
  • Bookkeeping Payroll/personnel records (staff of 5)
  • Take minutes, and conduct financial presentation at Board Meetings Provide high-level support and advice to the CEO

 

Key Criteria:

  • CA or CPA qualified Technical skills and experience in full general ledger accounting
  • Excel skills (advanced)
  • Proven record of accuracy and meeting strict deadlines
  • Ability to operate and analyse finances at both the strategic and detailed levels

 

Desirable:

  • Demonstrated record of innovation and initiative in strengthening financial
  • Experience working and reporting for a not-for-profit organisation
  • Experience working in an international context, with strong cross-cultural communication and diplomacy skills
  • Experience in general leger migration
  • Experience managing payroll
  • Interest in human rights, trafficking, slavery or gender-based violence.
