Organisation Name : Domestic Violence NSW
Domestic Violence NSW (DVNSW) is the peak representative body for specialist domestic and family violence services across the state. Operating from a feminist, social justice framework, DVNSW works to improve policy, legislative and program responses to domestic and family violence (DFV). Its work includes research, policy development and guidance to the government and the NGO sector, prevention and awareness work, campaigns, systemic advocacy, training and education. At DVNSW, you will be part of a small, collaborative team, co-located with other NGOs working in this space. DVNSW offers a supportive, flexible and friendly work environment and encourages all staff to continue to develop and deepen their skills and experience by working on a variety of projects and initiatives.

In this newly-created role, you will take the lead in creating change through advocacy, support of good practice in the sector and a whole of government approach to domestic and family violence and awareness campaigns. You will drive DVNSW’s work on developing service standards and a quality framework for the DFV sector, developing high-level approaches to advocacy and implementing preventative initiatives.

About You
You’ll have a genuine commitment to contributing to positive change by maintaining focus on DFV as a wicked problem in our society. You’ll have sharp analytical skills which you can use to formulate advocacy positions for stakeholders in the DFV sector. As a skilled facilitator, you will be adept a bringing people together, eliciting ideas and knowledge and driving new preventative options. You will be comfortable networking and liaising at all levels of government and within the sector. You’ll understand that DFV area can be challenging and you will have the resilience to work through competing views and approaches to find common ground so that you can advocate effectively for change in the sector.
