As the peak body for non-government mental health community-managed organisations across NSW the Mental Health Coordinating Council (MHCC) works with the community to build the capacity and ability of organisations to support people on their recovery journeys. MHCC provides leadership and representation to the community mental health sector to improve, promote and develop quality mental health services to the community. As CEO, you will facilitate effective links between government, community managed/non-government and private sectors to influence public policy development and reform. As a Registered Training Organisation, MHCC works to enhance the sector’s ability to deliver recovery-oriented mental health services. They develop resources, strategies, professional training and tools to assist community sector organisations to achieve and demonstrate quality and effectiveness in service delivery and organisational practice.

  • Sydney based

 

The focus of role responsibilities includes:

  • Working closely with the Board to set strategy and vision with clarity and confidence enabling MHCC to continually adapt to external market forces
  • Ensure the organisation structure and culture is positioned to enable the mission, programs, products and services are consistently presented to relevant stakeholders
  • Maintain financial oversight over the organisation and ensuring MHH gains full access to available grants and other financial support
  • Lead policy and program development, working with all stakeholders, to build the capacity and ability of community organisations to support people on their recovery journeys
  • Represent members to government and other bodies ensuring effective, quality advocacy
  • Resource allocation to enable achievement of plans and in particular, desired mental health outcomes.

 

About you

The successful candidate will have a genuine interest in MHCC (and its work) as a leading peak body and have experience in a similar environment at a senior level. Preferred experience will include:

  •  Leading mid-size organisations where complexity dominates; experience in a service related industry will be highly regarded
  • Track record in leading and managing change where associated ambiguity and uncertainty prevails
  • Personal gravitas combined with influencing skills and advocacy, working with government, confidence, energy and enthusiasm; a proactive rather than a reactive approach in driving change.
  • Clarity and commitment when communicating a compelling message to a variety of audiences; inside and outside the organisation
  • Applying strategic analytical capability to ensure solutions are innovative, relevant and commercially sound
