Lord Somers Camp and Power House (LSC&PH) is a diverse volunteer led community organisation with a big vision – “To create a stronger, more inclusive society through service to others”.

We have an active volunteer membership base of over 1,400 and an alumnus numbering over 12,000. As a registered not-for-profit company limited by guarantee, our programs include camps and activities held in Melbourne and at the Somers campsite on Western Port Bay in Victoria. These programs not only create fun, friendship, care, acceptance and belonging, but are also designed to achieve significant social impact, empowerment, engagement, and personal and community development, whilst improving leadership capabilities and wellbeing.

Programs are multi-faceted and aim to support the physical, social, emotional, spiritual and mental wellbeing of volunteers and participants. Our programs and activities focus on youth and community development, life-long learning and positive ageing. Community program participants and partnerships serve and build capacity amongst members and participants alike. Program participants include: • members from a diverse range of backgrounds, ages and occupations. • refugees and new migrants. • young adults living with physical or intellectual disabilities. • children who have been impacted by parental drug use and their carers. • children living with life threatening illnesses and their families.

About the role

The Board and management of LSC&PH seeks an energetic and suitably qualified professional for this position. Working with a small team of staff, the successful candidate will support and assist the Chief Executive Officer with a particular focus on the co-ordination of the voluntary efforts of members and through the oversight of office administration to support members and camp employees as they strive to serve our stakeholders in the development and delivery of high quality programs.

The successful candidate will possess excellent communication and computer skills, be a confident and capable public speaker and leader, and be articulate, well-presented, organised and energetic. Experience in NFP grant application procedures is preferred but not essential.

b) a curriculum vitae with the names and contact details of three referees (two professional and one personal).

c) a response to the Key Selection Criteria (maximum two pages).

d) a completed LSC & PH application form downloaded from the Duty Statement.

e) a current certified copy of a Working with Children Check (or current Institute of Teaching Registration ) with associated National Police History Check as a pre-employment condition: Police Check Consent f) evidence of Australian or New Zealand citizenship or Australian permanent residency.
