Building on relationships developed with Indigenous communities over fifteen years, SharingStories Foundation works closely with Indigenous communities across Australia. SharingStories’ programs transfer cultural knowledge and teach skills that support communities in the production and distribution of vibrant, engaging interpretations of living cultural heritage. SharingStories designs and builds innovative distribution platforms in collaboration with knowledge holders and developers. A not-for-profit organisation, Sharing Stories’ programs are directed by local custodians with its Board having equal representation of Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians. SharingStories programs build stronger connections to culture, Country and community, strengthen identity, self-esteem, and overall health and wellbeing. Students attend school to participate in our programs and learn skills vital to future employment. Our work with communities changes attitudes and beliefs, and builds respect for Indigenous culture and its relevance in today’s world.

About the role

SharingStories Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation helping Indigenous peoples to protect, maintain and grow cultural knowledge and language using innovative digital media arts practices and platforms.
SharingStories Foundation is seeking to identify a high-calibre professional to the role of Development Director. This role offers an exciting opportunity to join SSF’s team and to assist with a period of significant growth and development. Reporting to the CEO, the Development Director will create and oversee the implementation of a strategic approach to fundraising which may include major gifts, corporate donations, bequests, grant solicitation, and in-kind resources. The Development Director will work to manage and enhance existing relationships, build new relationships by identifying and packaging partnership opportunities, and cultivating and stewarding current and prospective partners.
The Development Director will also be key in developing strategy for building the capacity of SharingStories, extending our work with communities and sharing of that work in public spaces, developing partnerships to support this work, ensuring long-term viability and prosperity of the organisation. This role involves strategic thinking, development of philanthropic partners, funders and collaborators, development and implementation of long-term funding strategy and revenue streams. It also involves supporting the core of the organisation, its purpose and the wellbeing of the team.
To succeed in this challenging and exciting position the successful candidate will need to be a highly strategic thinker in possession of exceptional relationship management, communication and leadership capabilities.  They will need to have a strong track record of development experience and a proven ability to prioritise and manage competing demands.  Experience working with volunteers would be beneficial and a relevant tertiary qualification would be highly regarded.  The preferred location for this part-time role is Sydney.
