About the organisation

Organisation Name : Association for Children with a Disability (ACD)

The Association for Children with a Disability (ACD) is Victoria’s leading member-based, not-for-profit organisation providing information, support and advocacy for families of children with a disability living in Victoria.

We provide:

  • free telephone support services to families about any disability issue
  • knowledge building workshops and seminars for parents, carers, students and professionals
  • tailored information resources for families across a broad range of areas
  • systemic advocacy to advance the rights of children with a disability and their families

About the role

ACD is seeking an experienced and skilled individual to work across both the ACD Intake Worker and ACD Support Worker roles. The role also requires an excellent understanding of issues for families of children with a disability and a strong knowledge of the disability and service system for families.

Within the Intake Worker role, you will work closely with your colleagues in the ACD Support team to ensure that they have the information they need to respond to enquiries effectively and efficiently. The role requires skills around accurate documentation of personal information, identifying the presenting issue, collection of demographic data, providing a basic triage of enquiries and any other relevant information. A comprehensive handover will also be provided by the Intake Worker to the allocated Support Worker to avoid families needing to repeat their information.

Within the ACD Support Worker Role, you will work closely with your colleagues in both the ACD Support and ACD Educate teams. You will provide professional, accurate and timely information and support to families, present in introductory talks to groups of parents as well as contribute to systemic change for all families of children with disabilities.
