The GI Cancer Institute (www.gicancer.org.au) raises funds for gastro‐intestinal (GI) cancer clinical trials research conducted by its parent organisation, the Australasian Gastro‐Intestinal Trials Group

(AGITG) (www.agitg.org.au).

GI cancers include cancers of the oesophagus, stomach, liver, gall bladder, pancreas, bowel, rectum and anus. GI cancers are the most common form of cancer, affecting over 25,000 Australians each year and claiming a devastating 33 lives each day. AGITG clinical trials research finds better ways to treat gastro‐intestinal cancers. Our research has led to the improvement in both the life expectancy and quality of life of people diagnosed with gastro‐intestinal cancers.

An exciting opportunity is available for an enthusiastic Direct Marketing Coordinator with experience in mail campaigns to join a small but dedicated team to develop the GI Cancer Institute’s fundraising and marketing program. The GI Cancer Institute is embarking on a program of significant growth over the next five years and this position will play a pivotal role in the successful growth of the fundraising and marketing program.

About the role

The Direct Marketing Coordinator, in conjunction with the Philanthropy Manager, is responsible for developing, implementing and managing the renewal, retention, and acquisition strategies for one‐off and regular givers for the GI Cancer Institute with a key focus on direct marketing mail campaigns to grow revenue and build the support base. Working with the Philanthropy Manager, this role is instrumental in ensuring the long term growth of fundraised income to support AGITG clinical trial research.

In this context this role is responsible for meeting the following objectives:

o  Plan and execute a multi‐faceted direct marketing mail campaigns, donor development, and online marketing strategies that develop broad‐based community support for the organisation.

o  Working with our Direct marketing agency develop and implement marketing strategies for acquiring and retaining cost effective supporters (one‐off and regular givers) through a variety of different media such as direct mail, online and telemarketing.

o  Work closely within the fundraising team to ensure optimal results are achieved across all fundraising programs

o  Ensure all data is managed within our CRM environment

o  Manage and drive the appropriate measurements for direct marketing to monitor and evaluate performance and derive key insights

o  Manage and develop the appropriate communication materials to support this function.

o  Ensuring consistency of all messages delivered to our donors through the direct mail program.

o  Ensuring the GI Cancer Institute is seen as an ethical and responsible partner.

o  Assist in the successful execution of fundraising organised by the GI Cancer Institute

 

Knowledge Specifications

o  Minimum 3 years’ experience in fundraising and understanding of NGOs and not‐for‐profit organisations

o Experience in growing and implementing regular giving programs

o Demonstrated ability in developing, testing and implementing effective direct marketing mail programs, new product developments, fundraising techniques and resources.

o Demonstrated knowledge of online marketing, print production, design management processes and experience in web content.

o  In‐depth fundraising knowledge and demonstrated fundraising success in direct marketing

o  Proven experience in strategic and operational delivery of all aspects of direct marketing and reporting outcomes for retention and growth

o  Experience in partner/stakeholder liaison with strong interpersonal skills with a capacity for conflict resolution, relationship management and diplomacy

o  Experience working with acquisition and retention channels

o  Strong time management skills with the proven ability to manage several projects at once, make sound judgments, prioritise work and to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines

o  Experience in managing budgets, project expenditure and delivering organisational outcomes

o  Demonstrated ability to engage, and support team members and build effective relationships across an organisation

o  Knowledge of and experience with CRM databases and data analysis

o  Demonstrated ability in generic computer packages such as Microsoft Office, internet, databases and social networking platforms.
