About the role

About the role

As a registered charity, not-for-profit medical aid organisation, Medical Santo provides health services to the local community, expatriate locals and tourists. Working with and for the local ni-Vanuatu community and within their culture, you will respond to a wide variety of medical conditions.

The Doctor will be responsible for:

•Supporting the Service Manager in implementing plans to allocate tasks to other medical and allied health staff including specialist clinics and rural outreach visits;
•Working closely to mentor and maintain relationships with the local hospital and rural health staff.

You will supervise clinical staff by developing, directing, supporting, and performance managing medical practitioners and students. You will also work closely with the Service Manager to ensure the service fully supports the registered charity in its obligations and responsibilities under the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Vanuatu Government.

Few medical positions offer the clinical variety this position will. Away from work, there is also so much to explore. Whether it’s hiking through the wilderness, coastal activities along the beautiful beaches or exploring the amazing culture of the ni-Vanuatu community, you may never want to leave.

We will provide you with subsidised accommodation and relocation assistance to help you settle into Luganville. The remuneration package for this position is circa $60k per annum.

About you

You will need to be a registered Medical Practitioner in Australia, New Zealand or equivalent, with acute/emergency or remote area or foreign aid experience.

Your substantial experience in leading clinical teams and managing a clinical environment in primary care is backed by your ability to think outside the box and solve health, medical and logistical challenges in an environment of limited resources and operational change.

You are recognised for your ability to interact at a high-level with key stakeholders, while your cross-cultural competency helps you build relationships throughout the community.

Your active faith exemplifies a Christian lifestyle, where you live and work in accordance with your Christian values and are happy to engage with the local church community. You will also be able to work within the mission and values of Churches of Christ in Queensland and Medical Santo. If you have the right combination of clinical and leadership experience, and are looking to work in a new culture, we would love to talk with you.
