Collectively, our members operate several thousand services for Australians with all types of disability. NDS’s members range in size from small support groups to large multi-service organisations, and are located in every State and Territory across Australia.

About the role

Background:

The disability sector is undergoing a significant reform with the introduction of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). Disability service organisations in Victoria are undertaking substantial work to ensure this transition is as seamless as possible.

NDS in Victoria is in receipt of Victorian Government funding to deliver a number of sector development initiatives aimed at supporting the sector to effectively transition to the NDIS by building the capability of current and future service providers and their workforce.

 

Position Overview:

There is great potential for achieving efficiencies and enhance the impact of the Victorian projects if their planning and delivery is coordinated. NDS has existing resources and platforms nationally which can be leveraged to add value to these multiple projects.

This role will be critical to the successful delivery of these projects and will require close working relationships with all members of the Victorian team.

 

Key roles and responsibilities:

  • Work with the Transition Fund Manager on the project management of key projects, including: engagement with stakeholders across the sector and government; management of administrative, contractual and financial aspects of projects; timeline management; reporting requirements; and strategic communications.
  • Manage the monitoring and reporting requirements for projects including data management and project evaluations.
  • Manage all aspects of project administration and records management including supervision of staff.
  • Work with all Victorian staff to ensure projects are coordinated and integrated in order to identify opportunities for improved efficiencies and leveraging common resources, dependencies and objectives.
  • Work with the Victorian Leadership Team to pro-actively support strategic relationships with government, consultancies, research, peak and advocacy organisations and other relevant agencies, and represent NDS and the interest of members on consultative and other bodies as required.
  • Work closely with relevant National NDS staff members to ensure alignment with the national strategy and identify opportunities to leverage state based initiatives for National benefit.
  • Network and engage successfully with a diverse range of stakeholders in the disability sector, government, business community and general public to enable the effective delivery of NDS communication strategies.
  • Identify sector issues and market trends regarding sector development and stay abreast of contemporary approaches.
  • Working with all members of the Victorian team to deliver high quality support to member organisations, providing information, advice and support in relation to project engagement, service delivery, management, governance and operations.
  • Other duties as agreed.

 

Key Attributes

  1. Demonstrated high-level Learning and Development experience including exposure to eLearning and LMS tools;
  2. Demonstrated high-level project management skills and proven capability to manage complex projects with multiple priorities and deadlines on time and on budget, within a not-for-profit environment;
  3. Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, and demonstrated ability to consult, negotiate effectively and develop networks with a range of stakeholders;
  4. High-level conceptual skills, including ability to solve complex problems;
  5. Highly-developed written and oral communication skills, including the ability to write clear and accurate reports as well as to present effectively to various audiences;
  6. Experience in organisational capability and capacity building;
  7. Demonstrated understanding of the challenges and sustainability, capability and practice issues facing the disability sector;
  8. A strong commitment to improving outcomes for people with a disability;
  9. Proven experience leading a team;
  10. Independent travel capability.
