Funded predominantly by public donations and membership fees, the Refugee Council of Australia (RCOA) was formed in 1981 as the national peak body for organisations working with refugees and people seeking asylum. With the support of 200 organisational members and thousands of individual supporters, RCOA conducts research, raises awareness, advocates and campaigns to change the policy towards refugees and people seeking asylum in Australia to become fair and humane.
