Balarinji’s affiliated not-for-profit, the Moriarty Foundation, run separately, is an initiative that enables Aboriginal families and communities to unlock the potential of their children, to radically shift intergenerational disadvantage

Balarinji is best known for conceptualising Aboriginal art on Qantas aircraft. We also count in our client portfolio, Lendlease, Roads and Maritime Services NSW, WSP, Transport for NSW, Stockland, Nespresso and commemoration work in Europe for Department of Veterans Affairs.

We assist our national and international clients to express Australian identity through best practice strategic review and planning, Indigenous engagement, construction, interiors, public art, digital and design and communications.

 

About the role

PR in the b-t-b and not for profit space

We have a varied and exciting part-time permanent position for a professional who is experienced and forward thinking in the creation, development, management and implementation of strategic Public Relations and Social Media. Do you have the ability and experience to position our storytelling as leaders in Aboriginal capability across commercial and Not for Profit businesses?

The position of PR Lead reports to the Managing Director (Balarinji) / Co-Founder of the Moriarty Foundation. This position is split across five days for 25 hours per week supporting the PR and Social Media priorities across our business and our not-for-profit organisation.

Do you enjoy the art of storytelling and leveraging a number of mediums to build strong brand presence? In partnership with our teams across both Balarinji and the Moriarty Foundation, you will be responsible for the business to business and not for profit PR strategies and execution of plans across both of our businesses. You will have proven experience in nurturing media relationships, and have the ability to build the profile of our entities in line with our points of difference, premium brand positioning and reputation.

Position Qualification & Experience Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualified in Business, Marketing, Public Relations, Communications or Journalism.
  • 5+ years’ experience in a PR or Comms environment, within the creative space desired but not essential.
  • Experience in the creation, management and implementation of marketing and communications strategies.
  • Experience in b-t-b PR and/or not for profit PR.
  • Experience in Social Media planning.
  • Proven media industry contacts with strong experience in media liaison and confidence in approaching or dealing with media.
  • Excellence surrounding all areas of communication (verbal, oral and written) with the ability to write clear and concise content for various media platforms and contexts.
  • Proven skills in presenting and pitching.
  • A proactive, agile, team-conscious attitude, with excellent attention to detail and the desire to find solutions and achieve results.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment within a small team.
  • IT competency in MS Office for Mac, primarily Excel, Word, Powerpoint and across social media and website platforms.

 

Key Duties:

  • To create, budget, plan, prioritise and implement conventional and digital multi-channel strategies to grow media and online presence using all necessary tools (e.g. press, journals, magazines, website, emails, social media – LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, Blogs, Podcasts).
  • To create content that is innovative, inclusive and that leverages both our Commercial and NFP businesses, including the backgrounds of the business owners.
  • To work closely with the Business Development Lead and Project Team (Balarinji) and Development and People Lead (Moriarty Foundation) to capitalise on activities across both entities.
  • Monthly reporting and management meetings to outline and build on existing plans, and to advise on PR opportunities, value to the business and learnings.
  • To review and update website news content and business testimonials.
  • End to end management of media campaigns and media events.
  • To build relationships with  our partners and foster opportunities for them to promote our work across both entities, and vice versa.
  • To pursue public speaking opportunities and create content for business and NFP presentations, panel discussions and forums.
  • To create, source imagery and manage content across social medium platforms.
  • Efficient and structured e-file management of all plans, budgets, copy created, imagery and releases.
  • Ad hoc duties as required.
