About the organisation

Organisation Name : The Wilderness Society Ltd

The Wilderness Society is an independent environmental advocacy organisation supported by around 30,000 members. The work we do leverages our strong base to build a mass movement for climate action and nature conservation in Australia. Since 1976, we've stood at the forefront of the country's most historic campaigns, including the Franklin River, Fraser Island, Tasmanian Forests, James Price Point in the Kimberley and numerous World Heritage Areas. Today, we're training a new generation of environmental leaders with a sophisticated community organising program, while building support for effective and lasting change through our communications. Australia's natural environment and the life it supports is its great advantage, The Wilderness Society exists to protect it.

About the role

We’re looking for an exceptional Communications Manager to lead our team.

Do you have a solid background in communications? Can you build and maintain strong working relationships? Are you looking for a new and rewarding challenge, and a good cause to get behind?

Right now, we’re at a turning point in how we engage our audiences—taking a digital-first, story-driven approach,  with a focus on compelling content. To help us achieve our goals, we need to use every channel—new and traditional—to connect both our current and potential supporters.

That’s where you come in.

You will develop and inspire a team of passionate experts and be responsible for the design, development and delivery of a multi-channel program of communications activities that builds our brand identity, reputation and profile.

You are a strong communications all-rounder. You shall oversee the smooth running of a small, dedicated communications team, ensuring internal and external activity is aligned, and develop our digital focus and functions.

You will ensure we’re sharing compelling stories to the right audiences, in the right ways, at the right time.

If this is you, we want to hear from you!

  • Flexible working conditions
  • Work-life balance
  • Five weeks annual leave
  • Ongoing career and professional development
