About the role

YOUR CONTRIBUTION

The Project Officer – Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Specialist will support SSI to drive awareness of, engagement with, and inclusion for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and culture s across the organisation. You will work to build awareness and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures for SSI internally and with our culturally diverse clients and communities. Key areas of responsibilities include:

  • Work with key stakeholders to grow Indigenous cultural awareness
  • Identify sourcing channels or approaches to help attract more Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to work with SSI
  • Support the development of a Reconciliation Action Plan for SSI
  • Partner with procurement and functional leaders to improve supplier diversity through sourcing Indigenous businesses to provide relevant goods and services
  • Manage reporting processes

ABOUT YOU

You will have a strong knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and peoples and the role organisations can play towards reconciliation. Prior experience in a similar role or in supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. A deep understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and peoples, particularly around procurement, workforce, and community engagement. Experience developing and/ or implementing a Reconciliation Action Plan would be highly regarded.
