About the organisation
The Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA) is a new external dispute resolution scheme that will deal with complaints about financial products and services. A not-for-profit, non-government organisation, AFCA will resolve complaints in a fair, independent and efficient manner. Our service is free to the public, with the cost of running the service being met by our member financial firms.
AFCA has offices in Melbourne and Sydney, but our service is accessible to all Australians.
About the role
We are currently recruiting for a number of Registration Officers to join AFCA in both Melbourne and Sydney on a full-time, fixed-term contract until 31 December 2020. The role of a Registration Officer is to process new disputes lodged with AFCA in line with our registration procedure and to facilitate the resolution of disputes between consumers and financial service providers.
Key responsibilities include:

Managing incoming calls and responding to consumer needs and issues

Assessing whether a dispute is appropriate for registration or acceptance under our dispute handling procedures

Recording basic details of a dispute including a summary and entering these details into our case management system

Categorisation of dispute product and issue types
The ideal candidate will:

Demonstrate their ability to communicate effectively by telephone with a diverse range of stakeholders

Have a basic understanding of a broad range of financial services products, or ability to gain this understanding

Experience in the financial, legal or dispute resolution sectors will be highly regarded
