The Smith Family is a national children’s education charity helping disadvantaged young Australians to get the most out of their education, so they can create better futures for themselves.
Reporting to the Design Lead and working with a dedicated and passionate team, this pivotal role will lead a design process to enhance existing financial literacy programs, contributing to The Smith Family’s vision.
A day in the life of a Service Designer might look like this, but every day can be different. Primarily, you will be responsible for:
- Creating, planning and implementing a design process to improve The Smith Family’s suite of financial literacy programs.
- Engaging with students, their families and internal stakeholders to inform program elements and delivery models for financial literacy programs using a range of engagement methodologies including co-design workshops and interviews.
- Using relevant innovation and design methodologies to test and iterate program designs.
- Evaluating solutions to ensure they are viable and align with the organisations outcomes framework to support our growth strategy.
It takes a special kind of person to be our Service Designer. The successful candidate will bring the following:
- Tertiary or equivalent qualifications in a relevant discipline.
- Experience using contemporary innovation methodologies including human-centered design, lean start up and agile.
- Experience leading human-centered design processes through user research, ideation, prototyping, and testing.
- Experience working in service or program designs.
- Demonstrated planning and project management skills.
- Complex problem solving, systems thinking and analytical capability.
- Experience in facilitating diverse groups of people, including young people and people experiencing disadvantage.
