About the role

The role of the headspace School Psychologist will be to provide coordination/access and intake to the well-being services at Lyndale SC; receiving referrals from the well-being team at the school and providing psychological assessment, ongoing therapeutic services (caseload), care planning and support to young people aged 12-18yrs going to the College

  • Part Time Position
  • Fixed Term until 30th June 2020
  • Lyndale Secondary College Location, Victoria

About the Role:

  • Facilitate access to appropriate services (including headspace centres Dandenong and Narre Warren) as indicated by assessment and care planning processes;
  • Provide direct service to young people, families and carers;
  • Consult with and provide support to other professionals, agencies and members of the community engaged in the young person’s care;
  • Assist the school in supporting links between students and the Doctors in Schools Service.

About You:

  • ​Outstanding clinical skills in working with young people and their families/carers with mental health issues in an early intervention framework;
  • Outstanding clinical skills in working with young people and their families/carers with mental health issues in an early intervention framework;
  • Experienced in the provision of psychological assessments, cognitive assessments, mental health assessments, psycho-education and short-term interventions to young people;
  • Demonstrated high level of interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal), problem solving and negotiation skills;
  • Ability to maintain positive stakeholder relationships and work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders;
  • Ability to work confidentially and productively with a high level of tact and diplomacy;
  • High organisational skills and ability to prioritise;
  • Demonstrated experience in working with young people in a school environment;
  • Knowledge of school operating policies, structures and processes especially school wellbeing;
  • Demonstrated understanding of the challenging problems faced by young people and their families.
