About the organisation
COTA Australia is the national policy organisation of the State and Territory COTAs (Councils on the Ageing) in each of the eight States and Territories of Australia that make up the COTA Federation.
COTA Australia's focus is on national policy issues from the perspective of older people as citizens and consumers and we seek to promote, improve and protect the circumstances and wellbeing of older people in Australia. Information about and the views of our constituents and members are gathered through a wide variety of consultative and engagement mechanisms and processes.

About the role
Your policy experience, knowledge of the ageing or community sectors and ability to provide well researched and sound advice will contribute to COTA Australia’s policy development and advocacy work across a range of policy areas and be developed with relevant constituency and stakeholder support and involvement.
Working within a small team your duties and responsibilities will include:
- Investigate, analyse and report on public policy issues affecting older Australians
- Substantively contribute to the development of COTA policy materials, including drafting COTA policy submissions, policy alerts, issues papers, discussion papers, fact sheets and formal policy statements.
- Develop and maintain a strong network of stakeholders including collegiate organisations, State and Territory COTA staff and the public service
- Represent COTA Australia on committees and other forums as agreed/delegated
