About the role

The headspace social worker and counsellor will receive referrals from the wellbeing team at the school and work includes assessment, ongoing therapeutic services (caseload), care planning and support to young people aged 6-18yrs.

You will:

  • Receive referrals from the wellbeing team at the school;
  • Assess and provide ongoing therapeutic services (caseload), care planning and support to young people;
  • Facilitate access to appropriate services;
  • Provide direct service to young, families and carers;
  • Consult with and support other professionals, agencies and members of the community engaged in the young person’s care;
  • Support teachers to implement agreed evidence-based strategies while in the classroom.

About You:

You will:

  • Have outstanding communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills;
  • Have highly developed counselling skills and extensive experience in counselling children and adolescents;
  • Be able to provide authoritative professional advice in relation to issues involving student wellbeing;
  • Be able to manage individual support including counselling and case management for students and their families;
  • Be able to work with school wellbeing team and external agencies;
  • Be able to maintain positive stakeholder relationships and work collaboratively with all stakeholders;
  • Have experience in working within a secondary school context;
  • Have experience in working within a secondary school context;
  • Have demonstrated experience in working with children, young people and their families;
  • Have demonstrated understanding that young people will present with a range of social, emotional and behavioural problems;
