Generation programs are structured as intensive training ranging from 4 – 12 weeks in duration. The programs offer students integrated technical, behavioral, mindset, and employment skills training, mentorship support and community services as well as job-placement support when they graduate.

About the role

We are seeking a talented Curriculum and Instruction Lead, interested in being the main point of contact for Generation curriculum in Australia, and planning, managing, and delivering onboarding and professional development to Generation instructors. The Curriculum and Instruction Lead supports the Generation Australia team in curriculum design of new programs and reports directly to the Global Curriculum and Instruction Team.

Type of employment: Full-time or part-time, depending on the applicant

Location: Sydney, Australia

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Program Design

  • Support activity mapping with the global team for new programs in Australia, working with employers to surface the technical skills, behaviours and mindsets that should be integrated into new curriculums
  • Liaise with stakeholders to gather inputs needed for curriculum design and obtain feedback as needed
  • Collaborate with Global Curriculum Lead in the design process, ensuring content and activities are relevant and appropriate

Instructor onboarding

  • Design and customise onboarding agendas and session plans to lead trainings with Generation instructors
  • Facilitate online and/or in-person onboarding for Generation instructors, engaging them in an adult-appropriate, participatory way
  • Collect and evaluate data before, during, and after onboarding and trainings to identify lessons learned and any additional support for instructors

Instructor professional development & classroom delivery

  • Deliver professional development for instructors (e.g., coaching, refresher trainings, classroom visits, providing evidence-based feedback on observed strengths, areas for improvement and progress towards development goals)

Program learning and improvement

  • Identify session design and classroom delivery opportunities, challenges, and lessons learned, communicating that information to the Global Curriculum & Instruction Team
  • Collaborate with Global Curriculum & Instruction Team and local team to resolve programmatic issues that affect curriculum design, instruction, and program operations
  • Provide feedback on global training approaches and tools that are used to support instructor development

Stakeholder Engagement and Management

  • Support Generation in conversations with employer partners, communicating the value proposition of Generation’s approach to curriculum and instruction
  • Articulate Generation’s methodology for curriculum and instruction to diverse audiences, including employers, funders, training service providers, or other partners
  • Lead the identification of training service providers that will deliver Generation programs and supply instructors as needed
  • Communicate updates to donors and funders regarding program design, delivery, and quality

PROFILE

  • At least 4 years’ experience in the education sector and/or working with educational institutions, both as a teacher and as a trainer/coach of teachers
  • Experience managing relationships and communicating with diverse stakeholders, such as training delivery partners, donors, or employers
  • Creative thinker and problem solver with a track record of delivering outcomes
  • High degree of independence with the ability to also be a team player
  • Self-reflective and open to frequent feedback from students and Generation team
  • Professional demeanour, excellent organisational, interpersonal and communication skills and attention to detail
  • Interest in leading a community-based coalition that spans multiple local organisations
  • Entrepreneurial and proactive mindset required in the start-up environment to deliver against targets and seek opportunities for improvement/growth without instruction
  • Ideal candidate will have experience working with educational institutions, and/or has knowledge of current trends in adult learning, issues and the players in the skills training landscape
