IBSA is best placed to strengthen and impact the VET sector in Australia and globally because of its reach of stakeholders across industry, government and training providers.

About the role

A newly created position reporting to the CEO, the role works with multiple stakeholders across the organisation, providing strategic advice and support and acts as a sounding board for senior managers on matters which may have a legal implication.  

The Company Secretarial functions include managing, co-ordinating and performing secretariat duties in compliance with the relevant legislation and constitution including annual accounts and reporting requirements, the role includes giving procedural, governance and compliance support to the Board of Directors. 

Other accountabilities include leadership of contracts, risk management, and overseeing compliance matters.

 The role would ideally suit a person looking for flexibility but also being available to meet the requirements of the role when needed including attendance at Board meetings which may on occasion be interstate and outside of business hours.

You have:

  • Completed a Bachelor of Laws (or higher) and have at least 5 years of PQE
  • A broad commercial law background, ideally with an understanding of the VET (or tertiary education) sector
  • Strong interpersonal, influencing and negotiation skills to gain the acceptance of ideas, cooperation with others, and the ability to modify styles and techniques to accommodate tasks, situations and individuals.
