About the organisation
The Sydney Zoo Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation established to facilitate activities that protect and enhance wildlife and the natural environment. The Foundation is being established to work in association with one of Sydney’s newest attractions, Sydney Zoo, to further its work into conservation and education and to play a significant role in community development. Conservation and ecological objectives are at the heart of the Foundation and the Zoo. The Foundation aspires to be a global leader in connecting people to opportunities that involve improving wildlife preservation, environmental conservation, scientific research and community education.
About the role
The Foundation is looking to appoint 3 additional Non-Executive Directors. The ‘Founding Board’ will set the initial strategic direction of the Foundation.
This is a unique and substantial opportunity for individuals who are committed to animal conservation and / or environmental protection, understand good for-purpose governance, and potentially have meaningful connectivity to Western Sydney. New Directors will be part of something new and significant on many levels making this a rare and exciting opportunity.
You will have demonstrated knowledge in at least one of the following fields: animal conservation and environmental protection, education, business development and philanthropy. Importantly, you will have strong and relevant networks with business, government and community leaders, enabling you to influence on behalf of The Sydney Zoo Foundation. You will be an excellent communicator, innovative and strategic in your approach and highly skilled in managing a variety of stakeholder relationships.
