About the role
Our activities include a phone centre where we answer around 70,000 calls per annum on the national 131114 crisis line, manned by a small core of paid counsellors and over 200 trained volunteers. We run a text-based support service, and group, face to face and financial services counselling in the local community. We are active in the community on suicide prevention and offer community and corporate training. We operate a network of 8 retail stores and run a range of fundraising activities to support our services. We have around 35 FTEs and around 400 active volunteers.
The role involves chairing monthly Finance, Audit and Risk Committee meetings and attending bi-monthly Board Meetings. The role includes review of monthly management accounts and general support to the Board and CEO on financial matters as they arise. The role involves a commitment on average of around 4-6 hours per month.
About the organisation
LLNB is one of around 30 Lifeline Centres around the country. We provide suicide prevention and crisis support activities – our purpose is that “we create connection with people in crisis and empower individuals and communities to be safe from suicide”. We are a NSW incorporated association and our members are drawn from our volunteers. We are based in Balgowlah in NSW and cover an area from Kirribilli in the south to Palm Beach in the North.
