We currently have an exciting opportunity available to provide support for the Norfolk Island service
About the role
As the CHILD WELLBEING CASEWORKER you will work collaboratively with other professionals, families and the Norfolk Island community to provide services to children, young people and their families. You will report to the Unit Manager on Norfolk Island with support from the Key Assets Operations Manager based in Sydney. This role will promote and maintain quality care in a family setting by working directly with children and young people and families to keep children and young people safe with positive social, emotional, health and educational outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to building a robust and integrated service system on Norfolk Island
- Provide information, education and case management
- Work in partnership with other Child and Family Wellbeing Unit staff, teachers, counsellors and health workers to manage referrals and promote integrated service delivery, including joint counselling and group work
- Engage with families and the community to provide information and education about issues impacting on children and young people, and facilitate their involvement in addressing those concerns in the community.
- Participate in the Out of Hours roster
- Ensure the completion of all case management documentation, for operational compliance
- And to ensure compliance of business policies and child safe/protection procedures
To be successful you will have a strong understanding and solid skills relating to Child Protection and Child and Family Services. You will need a tertiary qualification in Social Work and it must be recognised by AASW. You will be motivated to achieve outcomes and be committed to providing a quality service. You will have excellent communication and written skills and will be highly organised.
Experience and Skills Required
- Be highly energised and possess passion for being the ‘Agent of Change’
- Experience in working with family/kin to prevent out-of-home Care placements and restoring children/young people back to family/kin
- Show initiative and be able to work independently
- Engage with and work collaboratively with children and families and partner agencies
- Have a sound understanding of child safe practices and procedures
- Experience in report writing, risk, critical incidents/allegations, investigation processes and recording
- Experience in areas of trauma, attachment theory and associated behaviours other relevant frameworks
- Knowledge of current legislation and government initiatives to support your practice as a social worker
- Must possess a full current Australian driving license and be prepared to obtain a Norfolk Island driving license and be willing to undertake relevant statutory and personal reference checks
