About the organisation

Organisation Name : Lower North Shore Community Transport Inc.

Lower North Shore Community Transport Inc. (LNSCT) provides safe, appropriate and affordable transport services to local community members in need of transport assistance.

LNSCT is a not-for-profit organisation incorporated under the Associations Incorporation Act 2009 (NSW) and governed by a volunteer Management Committee (MC).  We receive funding from the Federal Government, NSW State Government and North Sydney Council, and we are based in Crows Nest.

What we do

LNSCT was established in 1993 to enhance the well-being of the frail and aged, of people with a disability and their carers, together with other transport disadvantaged residents of Sydney’s Lower North Shore.

Our transport services are provided by experienced drivers of cars and minibuses for purposes such as medical appointments, shopping, social outings, and other appointments and activities.  Many of our services are wheelchair accessible.

LNSCT works in a close, co-operative relationship with many community organisations to assist the participation of our service users in community life.

Further information about our organisation can be found on our website: http://communityconnect.org.au/

About the role

The Management Committee (MC) is the body with primary responsibility for governance of Lower North Shore Community Transport Inc. (LNSCT), subject to legislation and its constitution.  LNSCT is seeking a new Member of the MC to fill a recently opened up vacancy – someone who is prepared to volunteer their time to help advance the well-being of community members by improving their access to reliable transport services.

We are seeking an independent, skilled professional with appropriate expertise.  Experience in customer/community relations or social welfare will be favourably considered.  The MC meets as frequently as required, but usually about seven times a year, and meetings are usually held in person at Crows Nest.
