About the organisation

Organisation Name : Social Traders

We exist to enable social enterprises to grow their impact through social enterprise procurement.  We do this by connecting social enterprises to trade opportunities with business and government buyers.

Since its inception in 2008, Social Traders has been a pioneer in the development of Australia’s social enterprise sector.  In that time, we have worked with countless social enterprises – across different stages of maturity, and in areas as diverse as conducting an accelerator program, providing advisory/consulting support and funding options such as patient and seed funding.

A decade later (2018), in an effort to generate greater social impact and change, we took on the challenge to unlock the massive potential of social enterprise procurement.

With procurement in Australia currently valued at over $600 billion, we believe that buying from social enterprise represents the greatest untapped potential in generating positive, sustainable social impact and change.   Business and government have the power to strengthen communities and help people, by simply making small changes to the way they buy.

To realise this once in a generation opportunity, Social Traders has been focused on working with business and government agencies to make changes to their procurement processes and connect social enterprises to new contract opportunities.
