About the role

This position presents an opportunity to work within an exciting new model for responding to elder abuse.  Based on recommendations of the Royal Commission into Family Violence, the Integrated Model of Care for Responding to Elder Abuse will strengthen elder abuse responses within the health system.  As a Counsellor within this model, you will provide a specialist service to clients and families affected by elder abuse, while also building capacity within the health and community sector to identify and respond to suspected elder abuse. 

The position will be based at Western Health, Footscray or Sunshine Hospital, two days per week (Monday & Tuesday).

The successful candidate will be suitably qualified with a relevant qualification in Social Work or Counselling, and experienced in the delivery of counselling services to clients experiencing, or suspected to be experiencing, elder abuse.  You will also enjoy working collaboratively with project partners to provide a specialist counselling service. Your proven ability to effectively work in a client centred and carer/family inclusive model of care, and an understanding of family systems, grief and loss, and trauma response will help you be successful in this position.
