Family support and Hospice for children with life-limiting conditions

Very Special Kids (VSK) is a renowned NFP that provides unique hospice and outreach support services for more than 900 families across Victoria. With over 100 staff and 950 volunteers, it has an operating budget approaching $10M per annum. 

 

About the role

  • Develop strategies & systems to enhance performance & services

Reporting to a progressive CEO, the GM Business & Finance leads a small team covering Finance, IT, Payroll, Risk, Administration and Facilities.

The focus of the role is to develop and implement strategies to ensure that the organisation is effective and financially sustainable. Accountabilities include financial modelling/testing of new services; managing finance for major capital developments and relationships with donors, and regular reporting. Other responsibilities include accountability for the IT strategy, overseeing procurement practices; administering investments, treasury and insurances; overseeing payroll, and property management.

CPA/CA qualifications are required for this broad, pivotal position plus experience in a senior Finance/Accounting role, preferably in both Commercial and Health/NFP environments. Sound analytical skills are important, with acumen to evaluate new business initiatives and oversee property and investment activities. Outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to engage with a range of stakeholders are essential, and an authentic leadership style that engenders trust and motivates others.
