About SEMPHN

South Eastern Melbourne PHN (SEMPHN) has the key objectives of:

  • Increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of medical services for patients, particularly those at risk of poor health outcomes, and
  • Improving coordination of care to ensure patients receive the right care in the right place at the right time.

About the role

  • Analyse a range of datasets to identify actionable insights to help improve health outcomes of people across the South Eastern Melbourne region
  • Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to inform planning and service development of Primary Health care activities
  • Be an integral part of telling the story of the Primary Health Network

About the role

The role of the Senior Data Analyst is to lead the implementation and delivery of best practice approaches for the collection, analysis and reporting of population health and service data, and contribute to the development and monitoring of effective performance indicators.

This role works with SEMPHN teams to address their data needs including collecting, analysing and presenting relevant population health data, and other datasets to identify health trends, impacts and gaps for SEMPHN.

If you have

  • Advanced conceptual and analytical skills including the proven ability to use and interpret epidemiological and social planning data
  • Strong knowledge of research and statistical methodologies and demonstrated experience in the analysis and interpretation of large complex datasets; ideally with health data sets
  • Advanced technical skills and extensive experience in the use of computer software packages to analyse data (such as Python, R, SAS, Stata, SPSS)
  • Demonstrate experience in querying complex relational databases (such as Access, SQL server)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and demonstrated ability to effectively and accurately convey data insights to a range of audiences
  • Strong team player and commitment to skills sharing and mentoring
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in either data analytics/health planning/public health/health admin/health education with an emphasis on data analysis and data management or equivalent
