About the organisation
Thorne Harbour Health is a community-controlled LGBTI organisation, governed by our members, and working for our sex, sexuality and gender diverse communities.
For the past 35 years as the Victorian AIDS Council (VAC), the organisation led the Victorian community’s response to HIV and AIDS. Now, our work has moved beyond Victoria and Thorne Harbour Health is responding to a broad range of issues. Thorne Harbour Health aims to improve the health, social and emotional well-being of LGBTI communities and those living with or affected by HIV, with a particular emphasis on bringing the HIV and AIDS epidemic to an end.
About the role
Thorne Harbour Health, Victoria’s largest provider of LGBTI health services is now recruiting for an appropriately qualified and experienced person with leadership acumen and a passion for mentoring and supervising staff to lead our Counselling Team. Clinically, you will have demonstrable skills and experience in delivering trauma-informed, supportive and evidence based counselling, therapeutic group work and brief interventions. A genuine interest in working with LGBTI community members and people living with HIV is essential.
The role sits within the Therapeutic Services & Capacity Building (TS&CB) program area and leads a team of counsellors, made up of both employed staff and volunteers from a variety of disciplines. The successful candidate will have solid clinical skills as well as the ability to manage and grow relationships with external referrers, funding providers and other stakeholders. The role also includes project management and service development work and experience in this area will be well regarded.
This position offers you an opportunity to be a part of Thorne Harbour Health’s leadership team at a time of overall program development and innovation; to engage in training and capacity building and to work collaboratively with the broader organisation, including AOD, family violence, HIV services and health promotion teams.
