About the role
The University of Newcastle’s Quality Teaching Academy aims to transform Australia’s education landscape by enhancing the professional development of teachers and improving student outcomes. The Academy builds on more than 15 years of research by Laureate Professor Jenny Gore and her colleagues, to provide targeted support to teachers and school systems across Australia. The initiative has received significant financial support from the Paul Ramsay Foundation.
Reporting to Laureate Professor Gore and the Project Executive Committee, the inaugural Executive Director of the Quality Teaching Academy will establish and build the Academy, working closely with the University of Newcastle researchers and external partners to implement the Quality Teaching Rounds program for teachers across the country.
The successful candidate will have an entrepreneurial background and expertise in growing and managing a commercial enterprise, along with a commitment to the purpose of the Academy. They will have honed skills in forging productive partnerships; ideally in the education sector, and a strong record in business development. An effective leader, they will nurture high performing teams, collaborate well with colleagues and have excellent communication skills. Personal qualities will include vision, energy, passion, integrity and resilience.
