The Victorian Council of Social Service (VCOSS) is seeking an Executive Officer to drive policy, engagement and advocacy on behalf of the Community Services & Health Industry Training Board Victoria. Specifically working with the Office of the Victorian Skills Commissioner in all aspects of the Vocational Education and Training sector and workforce.
VCOSS is the peak body of the community sector in Victoria. It raises awareness of the existence, causes and effects of poverty and disadvantage. VCOSS is a unique membership based organisation with a rich history in social justice advocacy in Victoria.
The Executive Officer will sit with the VCOSS Workforce & Industry Development team, reporting to the Manager, as well as working from the offices of the Victorian Skills Commissioner. The work of the position reports to the Board of the Community Services & Health Industry Training Board Victoria. The position will manage the deliverables of the Office of the Victorian Skills Commission (OVSC) – as the Officer responsible for the delivery of the OVSC Industry Advisory Group (IAG) Executive Officer support services.
The Executive Officer will be required to exercise specialised judgement, which includes applying complex concepts to policy development, research or activities within the work areas of community services and health education and training, to meet the objectives of the ITAB for the Office of the Victorian Skills Commission.
This role will include secretariat support of the IAG, representation and consultation with key stakeholders from industry and state government, and extensive project management. The position will also use consultation skills to identify emerging issues, and maintain an Issues Register on training and education priorities that impact the community sector.
The successful candidate will have high level written and analytical skills, and a proven ability to develop and maintain effective partnerships with a diverse range of stakeholders. The position requires relevant tertiary qualifications, and knowledge of VET and the community services and health sector.
