Who we’re looking for
If you’re a Financial counsellor, fully or partially qualified in Diploma of Community Services- Financial Counselling and eligible for membership of the Financial and Consumer Rights Council (FCRC), enjoy variety in your day, and working closely with other service delivery professionals, you might be exactly the person we’re looking for!

As part of our Gambler Help Team at Box Hill, EACH is looking for a Financial Counsellor to provide professional financial c ounselling and support to people making a huge difference to the lives of those adversely affected by gambling.

You will have demonstrated competence in an area of clinical practice, preferably in a multidisciplinary team context and with clients with multiple or complex needs, an understanding of the Social Determinants of Health and the Social Model of Health approach and health promotion, previous experience in the not-for-profit sector or an appreciation and understanding of community organisations and their operation and an good understanding of the referral pathways across sector(s)

What you’ll be doing
You will be providing financial counselling intake, assessment and information to clients contacting the service. Meeting with clients at our office to deliver financial counselling casework and advocacy using an integrative service model to support clients as well as drawing on your skills to implement a plan of management . You will be required to meet targets set by our funding body and supervision will be provided with peers and an appropriately qualified internal supervisor. You can expect variety in your day and you’ll be working closely with other service delivery professionals.

Who you’ll be working with
Our Gambler’s Help Eastern service offers support, advice, and information to people affected by gambling (both gamblers and non-gamblers) and to the broader community. We provide a range of professional services across the Eastern Metropolitan Region of Melbourne.

The Gamblers Help Financial Counsellor will be servicing the Inner East Region as part of the Integrated Services Team (IST) with Gamblers Help colleagues comprising of other Financial Counsellors, Therapeutic Counsellors and Community Engagement staff. The IST in the Inner East is comprised of Alcohol and Other Drugs and Gambler’s Help programs. The role will also involve out-posted work. Initially, the role will be based at Box Hill to build rapport with colleagues, prior to working from outpost location/s in the eastern region
