We have a variety of programs and activities ranging from playgroup, exercise classes to Men’s Cooking and many groups and organisations using the House. We have rooms of all sizes to hire for any occasion.

 

About the role

An opportunity exists for a suitably experienced Manager to join staff, volunteers and the general community in working at the established Rye Community House located on the Mornington Peninsula. The strategic direction is to take the lead in building a dynamic, diverse and inclusive Community House where every person can achieve their potential, network, learn new skills and assist others.

 

The successful applicant for this diverse role, will be a visionary, with the passion and commitment to take this role to the next level. They will have an excellent understanding of how a Not for Profit organisation operates and proven experience in a similar role.

This role reports directly to the Board of Governance and works closely with and oversees, administration staff, tutors, volunteers and contractors and is responsible for the development of programs to meet the needs of the community.

 

Selection criteria:

  • Demonstrated experience in Community Services and/or service coordination within the community or not for profit sector.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading, developing and supervising staff and volunteers and building effective teams.
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills and negotiation, interpersonal and time management skills, including the capacity to represent the House within the community and with funding providers and sponsors. 
  • An ability to identify community needs and to plan, develop, monitor and evaluate high quality programs to meet those needs.
  • Demonstrated experience in financial management including planning, budgeting and managing day to day financial operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively without direct supervision, providing support and resources to a volunteer-based Board of Management with an understanding of community education principles and current trends.
