About the role
The Initial Assessment & Planning (IAP) – Medically Supervised Injecting Room (MSIR) position primarily undertakes initial assessments and planning with people who are experiencing housing crisis, homelessness or who are at risk of homelessness. This will involve working with people who are using the MSIR facility who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness through direct face-to-face contact. The position requires experience in the provision of IAP and a high level of emotional resilience and skills in working with people who are marginalized and disenfranchised.
The position is primarily based at the MSIR in Richmond, however, the position will also be linked with the Launch Housing IAP team and be required to attend team meetings and supervision at the Launch Housing Entry Point. The position is offered as a 6 month Contract position in accord with the pilot nature of the funding.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will be empathetic and able to relate effectively and sensitively to people from diverse backgrounds. You will use assessments to drive planning and outcomes with clients. You will be tertiary qualified in human services, social work or other relevant discipline and have a comprehensive understanding of the issues which those experiencing homelessness confront. A track record of working well in a team environment is also vital.
