About the role

• Full-time, permanent opportunity based at RMIT city campus
• Oversee a team of fundraisers, identify and engage prospective donors, build relationships and raise philanthropic funds to support the University’s vision and strategy
• Be a source of advice and guidance, helping to build enterprise-wide understanding and expertise around fundraising and how philanthropy relates to and enhances the University and its work.
• Report to the Associate Director, Philanthropy
• Remuneration at HEW Level 9 ($113,878 – $122,015) with competitive salary packaging + 17% superannuation

Position Summary

As an experienced Manager, Philanthropy, you will:
• Provide advice to the Associate Director as needed to progress RMIT’s philanthropic agenda and the effectiveness of the team and its work.
• Develop and deliver annual fundraising plans, donor engagement strategies and support impact reporting
• Build and drive relationships with potential individual and organisational donors and manage these to maximise return for RMIT.
• Develop and manage fundraising staff, ensuring compliance with all related legal and policy obligations.
• Work and collaborate with senior executives, academics and Engagement Portfolio colleagues, lifting their capacity to be effective in philanthropy

Your Responsibilities

• Establish, promote and deliver excellent philanthropic support for RMIT University by building strong relationships with individuals, corporations, foundations, and trusts
• Identify fundraising opportunities, curate donor engagement strategies, provide up-to-date and accurate reporting and delivering reports periodically on the impacts of philanthropy works
• Deliver and pro-actively participate in knowledge sharing and the importance of philanthropy and its relevance across RMIT globally
• Compose and present fundraising proposals as well as preparing reports and high-quality recommendations on fundraising activities and performance
• Manage the philanthropy budget and ensure the team’s compliance to policy
• Maintain up-to-date and accurate records in the CRM

Skills and Experience Required

• Degree qualified and/or commensurate working experience in major organisation, candidate with sound knowledge of higher education or fundraising environment is desirable
• Possess excellent relationship building and management skills and the ability to communicate with diverse stakeholders
• Competency and strong understanding in the delivering, initiating and managing a fundraising pipeline
• Proven ability to identify continuous process improvements using your strong problem-solving skills
• Strong organisational and time-management skills to meet the demand of workloads and deadlines through working autonomously and collaboratively as a team
• Strong verbal communication and written skills; with high attention to details and accuracy in the quality of work
