Who we are
headspace is the National Youth Mental Health Foundation and plays a vital role in our community supporting young people and their families with mental health and wellbeing. headspace Knox provides access to mental health support, AOD counselling, vocational support, and primary health support to young people aged 12-25yrs.

Who we’re looking for
headspace Knox is looking for an energetic and dynamic Community Engagement Coor dinator to oversee and support the headspace Knox community engagement activities, as well as the Youth Action Force reference group.

If you’re tertiary qualified as a Social Worker, Youth Worker or Community Development Worker, with experience in consumer engagement involving Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Island communities, CALD, homeless, LGBTIQ or specific services for disengaged young men and women, you might be exactly the person we’re looking for!

What you’ll be doing
The Community Engagement Coordinator will provide a range of opportunities for young people to contribute to headspace Knox, both on and off-site. You’ll build relationships with the community, actively developing and implementing supportive processes and structures for the Youth Action Force reference group.

You will be Coordinating all community engagement requests & events for headspace Knox, developing an annual Community Engagement Pl an whilst maintaining effective engagement, consultation, and communication with all key headspace stakeholders. The role also includes school engagement, presentations, community activities, group coordination and facilitation, networking and partnership building.

An understanding of youth participation theory and frameworks and experience in providing leadership to youth-led groups will be integral in the success of this role. Highly developed interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills including the ability to proactively seek funding options to enhance participation activities are also required. There is never a dull moment so you will need exceptional organisational skills, time management skills, and ability to coordinate programs and rosters. You will also be required to regularly work flexible hours, including weekend and after-hours work.

Who you’ll be working with
Working closely with the headspace Knox tea m, you will assist with the provision of integrated referral pathways and programs for young people into mental health, recreational and educational/vocational supports. Working with other professionals within headspace Knox and partnering organisations, our team is dedicated to giving young people the best possible support.
