The Community Housing Industry Association Victoria (CHIA Vic) is the peak body that represents the not-for-profit community housing sector in Victoria. CHIA Vic works to support the growth of community housing as the most effective and efficient means of ensuring more disadvantaged Victorians can enjoy the dignity of safe, secure and appropriate housing.

CHIA Vic’s member community housing organisations (CHOs) include all the organisations registered as housing associations or housing providers under the Victorian regulatory framework. These registered CHOs make up an integral part of Victoria’s social housing system, managing more than 19,500 units of rental property, over 9,700 of which are owned by CHOs.

About the role

Grab the opportunity to have a positive impact improving policies and practices of Victoria’s social landlords in this challenging Tenancy and Property role at the Community Housing Industry Association Victoria (CHIA Vic).

Where you come in:

In this full-time role, you will play a critical role as an expert on tenancy and property management, as well as the lead for a new ‘Social-Landlord’ project for the community housing industry body. You will be working closely with our member organisations, government and other stakeholders to develop contemporary leading practice policies to further the interests of the sector.

What we are looking for:

You have some experience in tenancy management, the Residential Tenancies Act (RTA), with an ability to consider potential implications at the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT). You have a passion for housing and respect the important role of community housing organisations. You understand good practice in the delivery of tenancy and property management. Importantly, you can manage multiple competing priorities and are happy to assist others within our small team when needed – and with a smile. 

This role requires:

Some experience in tenancy and property management. Proven experience in developing and drafting policies. Highly developed communication, interpersonal and customer/members relation skills.
