About the role

 

Noble Park Community Centre (NPCC) is situated within the City of Greater Dandenong and is one of the Cluster of 7 Neighbourhood houses operating within the Municipality. The Centre receives funding under the DHHS Neighbourhood House Coordination Program, Department of Education and from the City of Greater Dandenong along with generating its own income streams and grant based funding. The Centre is a not for profit Neighbourhood House, Learn Local provider and community facility. We offer a range of community development programs along with adult education and partnerships with many other service providers.

Whilst this is a 30 hour per week permanent part time position, and the expectation is that it will be ongoing, the initial contract will be offered for a 6-month period. Manager reports to the Committee of Governance.

Wages and conditions as per the Neighbourhood Houses and Adult Community Education Centres Collective Agreement 2018 and dependent on qualifications and experience.

NPCC are seeking to recruit a highly motivated person to lead us through a time of restructure and redevelopment.  We require a proven leader, change manager and strategic thinker. Leading a team of dedicated staff and volunteers, you will develop an accountable, co-operative and resilient culture that puts the Community of Noble Park first and foremost and who is able to develop strategies to ensure their needs are met by the organisation.

You will have:

Effective leadership capacity and service planning skills in developing culturally appropriate community development and education programs

Excellent communication skills, problem solving, priority setting, evaluation and strategic thinking skills and the ability to impart vision and implement strategic goals

Significant senior management experience within the not-for-profit sector especially in working with Committees of Governance

Demonstrated experience in leadership and in successfully implementing Organisational change

An ability to create and build staff teams to collaboratively achieve results

Demonstrated experience and capacity in financial management and budget monitoring

Demonstrated ability to source income/funding streams and work with a wide range of stakeholders.

Demonstrated experience in ensuring Strategic plans, policies and procedures are in line with all relevant legislation & expectations of funding bodies

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE

The role requires: extensive Management experience; substantial governance knowledge and experience; proven track record managing a neighbourhood house or similar program; demonstrable understanding of strategic planning, HR & IR law, occupational health & safety; experience in policy development and direct line-management of staff and volunteers.

Suitable tertiary qualifications in Community Development, Business Administration, or other relevant field; and/or a combination of relevant experience, expertise and competence sufficient to perform the duties at this level.

A current Victorian Driver’s License

Police Check and Working with Children Check or ability to obtain one on engagement

Competent in Microsoft computer applications.
