YLab is FYA’s social enterprise which aims to transform the way government, business and community sectors engage with young people to rethink the systems that shape the world.

YA is Australia’s only national for-purpose organisation dedicated to backing the next generation of young people who are going to rethink the world and create a better future.

We work with young people from all over Australia aged 12-29 years, building Australia’s largest community of young changemakers – the innovators, the makers, the dreamers, the thinkers, the doers, and the creators. Working with partners across industry, government, education and the community sector to create and back young people and transform the way young people are engaged.

YLab is FYA’s social enterprise which aims to transform the way government, business and community sectors engage with young people to rethink the systems that shape the world. In 2019, YLab First Nations was launched to create a platform for young First Nations people to lead systems to change consulting work that centres their lived experience and cultural capital.

Your Role

Your new role will see you managing multiple consulting contracts within YLab, through the coaching and development of YLab Associates to design and deliver work under the theme of systems change. It is an exciting period of growth for the YLab business, which has a specific focus on establishing a First Nations practice, which this role will be instrumental in achieving.

You will be responsible for developing new business as well as maintaining strong client and stakeholder relationships to identify and deliver YLab First Nations projects, products, and services.

You will have the exciting opportunity to establish and develop a First Nations think tank that drives the First Nations consulting practice through engaging with key stakeholders.

This is a full time, ongoing role based in Melbourne.

About you

  • Be able to demonstrate proven experience in strategic/management consulting and project management
  • A proven facilitator/trainer with First Nations young people
  • Skilled at coaching and managing staff
  • Knowledge of co-design methods and techniques that appropriately incorporate First Nations lived experience
  • Experience centring First Nations knowledge systems and ways of working
  • Excellent verbal and written communication with the ability to work as part of a successful team
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills
