No two days as the same in the Family Advisor role at Relationships Australia New South Wales (RANSW). In this pivotal role you will be working closely with staff in the Blacktown Family Relationship Centre. You will be the first point of contact for family members going through tough times and seeking support. This role provides an opportunity to make a unique difference to the lives of those in need accessing the Family Dispute Resolution (Mediation) services.
Family Advisors manage intake and coordinate access to services for our clients as well as looking at clients immediate needs and assisting with referrals to other suitable services. This position will be suited to someone who is computer literate, is caring and knowledgeable of the struggles that families go through during separation.
This role gives you the scope, to make an unrivalled difference in the lives of the Blacktown Community.
At RANSW we’re flexible. This is a part time role at 3 days per week (weekdays only), paying as follows:
$43,136.26 – $43,401.15
We’re also able give a bit more.
In addition to the salary to the base salary, there is the employer’s contribution (9.5%) to superannuation, leave loading (17.5%) and we offer salary packaging (a tax free exemption as a not for profit!)
Your eventual salary will be negotiated with you what you can show us in experience, training, qualifications and attitude.
About the team
You will be working within a number of highly skilled and talented Family Dispute Resolution Practitioners, Administration support staff and other service providers.

We’re interested in hearing from people who possess a combination of the below
- A degree or diploma in social work, counselling, psychology, welfare or health related services or equivalent.
- Experience in the human services environment in working directly with clients who may be experiencing significant crises, domestic violence or family transitions.
- Demonstrable skills in client assessment, engagement and awareness of issues relating to client safety, confidentiality and the requirements of relevant legislation (including Child Protection and Family Law).
- Excellent written / verbal skills – a basic level of counselling skills will be well regarded.
- Computer literacy
It would also be great to have an understanding of Domestic Violence, Child Protection and Family Law.
