The Victorian Foundation for Survivors of Torture Inc. (also known as Foundation House) provides services to advance the health, wellbeing and human rights of people of refugee backgrounds in Victoria who have experienced torture or other traumatic events in their country of origin or while fleeing those countries. The organisation was established in Melbourne in 1987 and is non-denominational, politically neutral and non-aligned. Foundation House is a state-wide agency offering services in metropolitan, regional and rural areas, with head office based in Brunswick. We have approximately 200 staff with metropolitan regional offices in Dallas, Sunshine, Dandenong and Ringwood.

  • Ongoing position primarily based at the Brunswick office

 

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Practitioner – Intake to work on part time or full time basis (0.6-1.0 EFT). It is an ongoing position that will be based primarily at the Brunswick office with travel to regional offices as required. The position will work closely with the Intake team leader to design and implement the centralised intake system and the waitlist project at Foundation House.  

About you

You will have expert knowledge of the mental health service system in Victoria and have demonstrated experience conducting complex intake and triage assessments.  You will also have expert knowledge in trauma and its psychosocial impact on individuals, families and communities especially with people from refugee like background.

You would have previously involved with human rights and social justice issues and possess outstanding communication skills including relationship building with internal and external stakeholders and working effectively in a complex service system.

Salary and benefits

Remuneration is based on our Enterprise Agreement 2014 up to $92,970 gross per annum. Benefits include salary packaging, leave loading, onsite parking, and a range of flexible working options, a highly supportive team environment, excellent training, and support and development opportunities.
